2008 Arbovirus Surveillance Information

Welcome to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Arbovirus Surveillance Information Website.  Here you can find out about birds, mosquitoes and horses (equines) that have tested positive for WNV or EEE virus in your city or town.  You can also see if there have been reports of WNV or EEE human cases in your area.

In 2008 in Massachusetts, reporting and testing of dead birds for WNV will begin on Monday, June 2.  Routine collection and testing of mosquitoes for WNV and EEE virus will begin in June. The State Laboratory Institute performs testing for WNV and EEE virus infection in horse and human specimens year-round.
